We have several different kinds of sedation. Oral sedation is one where there’s actually…we have the patient take some pills and go to sleep, but we do have nitrous oxide sedation as well, which a patient can come in and have the procedure done, and when they leave, they’ll be able to drive their car. They won’t feel any different than when they came in. But we’re also very compassionate about people’s fears. We try to really explain things as much as they want to have them explained. Some people don’t really wanna know what you’re doing, but the people that kind of have that fear of the unknown, we try to address that fear. When we’re giving anesthetic, we use a very, very strong topical, so it’s very rare that our patients feel it when they’re getting numbed. We try to do everything we can to really increase patient comfort and a lot of times, once a patient goes through that and they’ve had that experience once or twice, a lot of that fear goes away.
Feel Confident About Your Care by Overcoming Your Anxiety
Everyone deserves to get the dental care they need regardless of their anxiety. Our team’s goal is to transform your entire dentistry experience. We’ll focus on making you feel cared for, comfortable, and relaxed during every visit. Whether you need a dental checkup or want a complete smile makeover, we are passionate about helping you receive the treatment you need without adding any additional stress.
Sedation can really help lessen anxious feelings. At our office, we have two methods. Both are designed to calm your nerves and make your experience more comfortable. You can choose from:
- Laughing Gas – Also known as nitrous oxide, this is a mild sedative. You inhale it through a small mask. You’ll remain aware and conscious throughout your treatment, but also feel more relaxed. The effects wear off quickly, which means you can drive home easily and go on about your day.
- Oral Sedation – If you have more severe dental anxiety or are getting longer, more complex treatments, you may prefer oral sedation. You’ll take a prescribed medication before your appointment. This will help you feel more relaxed. Due its longer-lasting effects, you’ll need someone to drive you home.
