We have a really, really proactive hygiene program. So, you know, we’re firm believers that, you know, you wouldn’t build a house on a shaky foundation, and the teeth is the same way. The gums and the bone need to be healthy in order for the whole mouth to be healthy. So we have a very proactive hygiene program.
We also do a well scan once a year on every patient, which is a digital scan that will kind of form a digital timeline of the teeth. So, for instance, if we have a patient who is a tooth grinder, which tooth grinding can lead to gum recession, and if that patient’s concerned about that gum recession, we can take a scan year over year, and we’re able to see…we can take those scans and overlap them from year over year, and we can see if that gum recession is progressing. It allows us to, again, keep a much finer eye on preventative care, which then allows us to do more conservative treatment, which often saves the patient a lot of money as well.
Put Your Oral Health First Through Preventive Care
Even with brushing and flossing daily, it’s easy to miss areas where plaque and bacteria can hide. That’s why visiting us regularly for dental checkups is so important. These twice-a-year visits can catch and address issues early on and remove even the most hardened tartar buildup from your teeth. Your dentist focuses on treating your smile needs as efficiently as possible. He can perform many procedures, including restorative treatments, in a single visit, saving you time and stress.
Your preventive options include:
- Dental Cleanings and Exams – Our thorough cleanings and exams will remove plaque and tartar from your teeth. Your dentist uses advanced technology, such as the iTero digital scanner, to spot cavities and other issues. Our VELscope can detect oral cancer in its earliest stages.
- Bad Breath Treatment – Your chronic bad breath can often point to an underlying dental issue. Your dentist will pinpoint the cause of the problem and make treatment recommendations to address it. He may suggest products you can use in your at-home routines.
- Gum Disease Treatment – Your dentist will treat gum disease with a thorough deep cleaning procedure. He’ll combine that with personalized oral hygiene tips designed to manage and minimize the effects of gum disease on your oral health.
- Mouthguards – If you need protection from teeth grinding or during athletic activities, our custom-fitted mouthguards will safeguard your smile. These high-quality mouthguards give you a comfortable way to avoid injury.
- Tooth Extractions – Dr. Smith may recommend a tooth extraction for a tooth that cannot be saved, but we use this as a last resort.
