My dad’s a dentist. I grew up around dentistry my whole life. I’ve always enjoyed science and healthcare and kind of dabbled in other fields like sports medicine but kept coming back to dentistry because I had friends that were going to dental school and they were in love with it, so kind of made my way back to that path. But I like helping people and I don’t think I could work from home. I really like being around people. It energizes me.
My background is in exercise and sports science. I went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for my undergraduate degree and went to Virginia Commonwealth University for a master’s degree in the same field. Then kind of shifted gears and decided to pursue dentistry all in my dad’s footsteps and I ended up going to Indiana University for dental school which is also where my dad went to dental school. Since then, I’ve just kept moving west and I’ve ended up in Boulder, Colorado because I love to rock climb and love the outdoors.
I think continuing education is super important. I want to be able to provide patients with services that they might not be able to receive at other general dental practices. It also helps keep my interest in dentistry alive and exciting. And I’ve done extra continuing education recently in Botox. That’s something that’s been really popular and exciting and people want to get this service done to help improve their facial aesthetics and also to help with TMD or disorders with their jaw. Dr. Whitney’s love of dentistry started from a young age when she was shadowing and working with her father, who is a retired dentist. She is excited to continue that legacy of exceptional, compassionate care at Alber Dental Studio, where she takes the time to build trusting relationships in a relaxed setting.
Dr. Whitney earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in sport science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Virginia Commonwealth University. She also completed her doctoral degree at Indiana University and has practiced in Indiana, Colorado, and Oregon since graduating.
Dr. Whitney pursued advanced training to gain expertise in preventative and restorative technology and in Botox for facial pain relief such as TMJ and esthetics.
Originally from North Carolina and also former resident of the Boulder community, Dr. Whitney is thrilled to return to beautiful Colorado. You’ll find her, her husband, and their beloved Australian Shepherd getting outside climbing, hiking, and exploring in all that the Front Range has to offer.
